From Farm Girl to Disney Diva: A Fairytale in the Making

Would you believe I'd never been to Disney until 2023? I have dreamt about going since I was a little girl. As I am sure some can relate, it wasn't until I was much older that I could make it happen. It was worth the wait! I've gone from zero to full-blown "Disney Adult" faster than you can say "bibbidi-bobbidi-boo"! Who knew that wearing Mickey ears and belting out “Let It Go” in public could be so liberating? If you need me, I’ll be at the nearest churro stand, contemplating life’s greatest mysteries (like why do they taste so good?).

A Rollercoaster of Fabric and Fun

Picture this: a girl growing up on a farm in Alberta, dreaming of big city lights, while driving the tractor over the hills and through the dales. I kept myself busy sewing for friends: Halloween costumes from vintage fabric (because why buy when you can DIY?). Fast forward to meeting my soulmate—who thankfully understands my love for both the outdoors and craft projects—and voilà!

My husband and I are proud to run the WineGlass Ranch, where we raise about 300 head of commercial Angus cattle. Our ranch is a big part of Alberta's history—it was established back in 1885, making it an official Alberta Heritage Ranch. That means it is even older than the province itself!

We were homesteading before homesteading was even cool! Here, I juggle more roles than a cast member at Disney:

- 👑 Queen of the Castle (aka Wife and Mom to two amazing kids!)

- 🐄 CowGirl Wrangler Extraordinaire

- 🧵 Fairy Godmother of Fabric (turning thrifted fabric into dreams come true)

Needless to say, I am busier than a cat in a room full of laser pointers. If you hear me yelling “No! You can NOT ride the cow!” It is all part of the charm of my crazy life.

Stitching Dreams into Reality

Now onto the fun part! I’ve traded in my cowboy boots for sewing needles (well, sometimes) and embarked on a mission to turn those forgotten vintage fabrics into magical garments that even Fairy Godmother would give a standing ovation to.

The Disney community has been like a warm hug from Mickey himself—full of friendly faces and endless fun.

Creating unique, size-inclusive pieces for this fabulous bunch is not just my job; it’s like being part of an exclusive club where everyone wears sparkles and occasionally breaks into spontaneous song. Seriously, it’s like High School Musical but with fewer basketballs and more sequins.

My Superpowers (AKA Skills)

I’ve been sewing since Home Ec class was still a thing (shoutout to Mrs. Riddle!). For over 30 years, I’ve been transforming fabric scraps into fashion statements.

Thanks to the internet, I’ve learned more tricks than the Road Runner.
