Hey there, fellow adventurers! Welcome to the inaugural edition of “Mickey’s Magical Memoirs”—where we spill the beans on my first-ever trip to Disney World! Buckle up, because it was a whirlwind of magic, mayhem, and a bit of mischief.
The Countdown Begins
We booked our trip 3 months before, and let me tell you I was bouncing off the walls like Tigger on a sugar rush. I had my park passes (thank you, My Disney Experience app!) and I scoured the internet and influencers for a list of must-dos longer than Cinderella’s shoe collection. Spoiler alert: I didn’t get to do everything. But hey, who does?
Day One: The Great Rope Drop
Day one arrived, and I was ready to rope drop like a pro! What’s that, you ask? It’s when you arrive at the park before it opens to snag those coveted ride spots. I thought I was going to be the early bird catching all the worms (or rides), but let’s just say my family might have mistaken me for a zombie by 7 AM. Coffee is essential, folks!
The Magic Kingdom: A Land of Dreams
Walking into the Magic Kingdom felt like stepping into a fairy tale—minus the glass slippers and talking animals. The castle sparkled like it was auditioning for a role in “The Great Gatsby.” I actually cried when I saw the castle for the first time! We hit up rides like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean, where I may or may not have screamed louder than a banshee. Pro tip: Don’t forget to wear those first-timer pins! The cast members treated me like royalty—Mickey himself would’ve been proud!
Food, Glorious Food
Let’s talk about food because Disney knows how to do it right! We indulged in churros that tasted like happiness wrapped in cinnamon sugar and popcorn that was practically a meal (two-dollar refills, anyone?). Quick service meals were our jam—mobile orders are your best friend unless you enjoy waiting in line longer than it takes to ride It’s a Small World. We had some great meals, and a lot of wonderful snacks. Mickey shape ones are the best!
Character Encounters: A Mixed Bag
Meeting characters was a highlight! But let me tell you, waiting in line for 30 minutes to meet Mickey felt like waiting for my laundry to dry. Totally worth it though Mickey gave me a hug that made all the waiting melt away. Just remember, patience is key; even Mickey doesn’t have fast passes for character meet-and-greets!
The Final Thoughts
As our magical adventure came to an end, I realized something profound: You can’t do it all in one trip (even if you try). So focus on what makes you happy—whether that’s riding every roller coaster or simply enjoying a Dole Whip while people-watching. So there you have it! My first time at Disney World was filled with laughter, joy, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. Until next time, keep dreaming big and never stop believing in magic! Catch ya later,
Kara Eklund
